The Art of Storytelling’s Professional Exchange Workshops give anyone who tells stories - teachers, parents, professional storytellers, children’s librarians - the opportunity to learn new tales and techniques. These highly regarded, full-day workshops are led by nationally and internationally acclaimed storytellers and authors who creatively share their knowledge. The visiting storytellers and librarians who conduct these workshops also perform during International Festival Day.
These popular sessions are also valuable for cultural historians. Participants become actively engaged in learning new skills as well as sharing and discussing the importance of stories in family literacy and the passing-on of traditions and customs. Librarians and teachers gain great insight into selecting multicultural stories and the best way to use them with children in the classroom or in the library. Storytellers expand their knowledge about different types of stories and their cultural significance. Parents find new ways in which to bond with their children while teaching them a bit about their own heritage.
