MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SELECTS 3rd ANNUAL T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST WINNER
Stephannie Figueroa, 17, a patron of the Miami Lakes Branch Library, is the winner of the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s 3rd annual Teen Read Week, T-Shirt Design Contest. Figueroa’s entry, chosen from among 600, best represented the theme “Read Beyond Reality.” Runners-up wereManuel Jimenez, 17, California Club Branch Library and Keren Soto, 12, South Dade Regional Library.
Figueroa received a $100 gift card to Pearl Art and Craft Supply and a football autographed by Miami Dolphins Linebacker Joey Porter. The Dolphins will also recognize Figueroa with a certificate at their October 25, game against New Orleans. Teens participating in special library programs during the official commemoration of Teen Read Week, October 17- 24, will receive a t-shirt with the design.
Teen Read Week(TM) is a national literacy initiative of the American Library Association (ALA), which encourages teens to “read for the fun of it.” The Miami-Dade Public Library System added the t-shirt design contest to encourage participation, and generate excitement about the event.
The T-shirt design contest and Teen Read Week events are sponsored by the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
