Miami-Dade Public Library System to Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Bay Harbor Islands Branch on December 4
(Miami, FL – November 29, 2016) Miami‑Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, County Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, the Board of County Commissioners, Town of Bay Harbor Islands Mayor Jordan W. Leonard and Town Council, and the Miami‑Dade Public Library System will celebrate the grand opening of the Bay Harbor Islands Branch Library on Sunday, December 4, at 10 a.m. The new library is MDPLS's 50th branch location and will be located at 1175 95th Street, Bay Harbor Islands, FL 33154, inside the new Morris N. Broad Community Center, which is also opening on the same day.
“This library will be a great resource for the Town of Bay Harbor Islands community,” said Miami‑Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “I applaud our Board of County Commissioners as well as the vision of Mayor Jordan Leonard and the Bay Harbor Islands Town Council in recognizing the benefit and importance of library services for their residents.”
The new library branch will feature a diverse collection of reading and audio/visual materials, as well as free Wi‑Fi and internet access, high‑speed desktop and tablet computers, and 21st century learning tools such as a SMART Table interactive learning center and gaming area for children and teens. The branch will also benefit from co‑programming opportunities with the Town of Bay Harbor Islands inside the Community Center.
“Great libraries and great communities go hand in hand,” said Library Director Gia Arbogast. “We are pleased that Bay Harbor Islands residents now have a library to call their own within their new community center. The opening of this library, a milestone 50th branch, supports our vision of providing lifelong education, exploration and discovery for all residents of Miami‑Dade County.”
The operating hours for the Bay Harbor Islands Branch Library will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
