(MIAMI, August 25, 2008)– The Miami-Dade Public Library System recently celebrated the end of another successful Summer Reading Program with a Grand Prize party at the newly opened International Mall Branch Library
During its seven-week run, the Summer Reading Program attracted 15,000 youths, 18 and under, who visited libraries to check out the many resources, and to enjoy storytelling; visits with Miami Dolphins players, cheerleaders and alumni; arts & crafts, and wildlife and magic shows.
Each week, participants had the opportunity to win passes to top local attractions and were able to submit entries for a grand prize drawing. More than 50 prizes were given away including laptop computers, iPods, autographed footballs and jerseys from the Miami Dolphins, VIP visit to the Dolphins training camp and VIP visit to the Dolphins’ pre-season game against Kansas City on Saturday, August 23rd.
The Summer Reading Program is annual initiative of the Miami-Dade Public Library System, which helps to encourage children to continue reading while school is in recess. The program was sponsored in part by the Miami Dolphins Foundation. |
