SUMMER FUN CONTINUES AT MIAMI DADE PUBLIC LIBRARIES WITH SPECIAL PROGRAMS FOR KIDS AND TEENS

(Miami, July 27, 2009) Hey kids and teens, is the thought of going back to school getting you down?  There’s still time to enjoy special “Summer Fun” activities at your Miami-Dade Public Libraries.  Throughout August, the library system will offer a number of free programs at various branches. 

The action begins on Saturday, August 1, with a diverse lineup of fun and interactive activities. Learn some tricks to mesmerize your friends and compete for a professional yo-yo when former U.S. and World Yo-Yo Champion Jennifer Baybrook shares her favorite tricks at the South Dade Regional Library, 10750 SW 211 St., starting at 11a.m.  Also at 11 a.m., the Coral Gables Branch, 3443 Segovia St., presents the Friendly Learning Theatre Production, Art at Your Fingertips.  Kids 3-8, can enjoytheaward-winning story of Swimmy, by Leo Lionni, and have the opportunity to design their own underwater scene.  The entire family is invited to join Merlina the Magician, for captivating stories and spellbinding tricks, at the Sunset Branch, 10855 SW 72 St. at 11 a.m., and at the International Mall Branch, 10315 NW 12 St., at 3 p.m. At the Miami Beach Regional Library, master artist Pablo Cano and puppeteer James Hammond will offer canine lovers their own breed of excitement with “DOG,” a shadow puppet production, starting at 1:30 p.m.
