MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM HOLDS GRAND OPENING FOR REMODELED MIAMI SPRINGS BRANCH LIBRARY
On Monday, March 28, 2011, County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa (District 6) kicked-off the re-opening celebration of the Miami Springs Branch Library. Joining her were City of Miami Springs Mayor Billy Bain and City of Miami Springs Council Members Jennifer Ator, Dan Espino and George V. Lob as well as a large number of residents and city and county staff.
The Miami Springs Branch recently went under extensive renovations which included the installation of a new roof, a new air conditioning system and a complete redesign of public areas. The branch now has more open spaces and more windows to let in the natural light. Hurricane impact windows were installed and new ADA compliant restrooms have been completed. The parking lot has also been expanded and includes new lighting. Both the interior and exterior of the building has been painted and new terrazzo tile floors line the floors. There are eight public computer stations, 10 laptops available for checkout and self checkout machines. The branch is also equipped with a Reading Ready Early Literacy Center and contains interactive play-to-learn resources as well as designated areas for teens and adults.
The library is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday from 9:30 am – 6 pm; Tuesday from 11:30 am – 8 pm and is closed on Friday and Sunday. For more information, call 305.805.3811.
