On the 50th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs invasion, veterans of Brigade 2506 will gather for a retrospective discussion on the events that lead up to the ill-fated invasion and its aftermath. Veterans represent all branches of the Brigade’s armed forces. The program takes place on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the West Dade Regional Library – 9445 Coral Way.
This special program will be complemented by a viewing of the documentary film Prisoners Return – narrated by Ralph Renick and an exhibition that includes a wide array of books, newspaper articles and visually-engaging special collection materials in both English and Spanish.
The evening will be moderated by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier D. Souto, himself a Bay of Pigs veteran. Veterans include Amado Cantillo, Miguel Penton, Raul Solis, Mario Zuñiga, Julio Pestonit and Manuel Menendez Pou.
