MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM'S T-SHIRT DESIGN WINNER ANNOUNCED
Seventeen year-old Jessica Vachon, a student at Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School, is this year’s Teen Read Week, T-Shirt Design Contest winner. Her winning entry was chosen from more than 100 drawings and best represents the theme“Picture It @ Your Library”.
Vachon will receive a Barnes & Noble NOOK Color, an autographed football from the Miami Dolphins, and will have her design reproduced on T-Shirts which will be worn by participants during the official observance of Teen Read Week, October 17-23. Alfonso M. Freire is the runner-up and will receive a $75 Best Buy Gift Card.
Teen Read Week is a literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, which encourages teens to read just for the fun of it. Teen Read Week and its activities are sponsored by the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library and the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
