LIBRARY'S BOOKMARK CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCED

-Winners from each branch celebrated at unveiling party!-

(Miami, december 22, 2011) Seven-year-old Katelyn Smith from South Dade is the 2011-2012 Miami-Dade Public Library System Bookmark Contest winner. She was among more than 900 participants who demonstrated their creativity by designing a bookmark around theme ‘The Miami-Dade Public Library System – A Neighborhood Gem’ which asked them to reflect upon what the library means to them and their families.

Winners from each of the 49 branches were honored at a special party which was held on Saturday, December 17 at the Main Library. Each winner received a special prize and a certificate. Among all of the branch winners, one was chosen to be the Library System’s official bookmark for 2012. Katelyn’s design will be reproduced and distributed throughout the all libraries. She received a large gift bag of art supplies and an autographed football from the Miami Dolphins.
The Bookmark Contest is presented with the generous support of the Miami Dolphins Foundation and the Friends of the Library. For more information, call 305.375.BOOK (2665).
