(MIAMI, MARCH 1, 2012) – On Thursday, February 29, 2012, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, County Commissioner Sally Heyman, City of Aventura Mayor Susan Gottlieb and other city elected officials broke ground on the new Northeast Branch Library much to the delight of many northeast Miami-Dade residents. The new building is being constructed on the site of the previous facility which was destroyed by Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and later demolished.  Construction is slated to be completed in the fall of 2013.
