MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM AND WWE TO HOST 2012 WRESTLEMANIA READING CHALLENGE FINALS
–The challenge takes place Saturday, March 31 at the Main Library!–
(MIAMI, MARCH 19, 2012) – The Miami-Dade Public Library System, in partnership with WWE, will be hosting the 2012 WrestleMania Reading Challenge Finals featuring students from all over the U.S. on Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. – Noon at Main Library – 101 West Flagler Street in downtown Miami. Sponsored by the WWE and the American Library Association's Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), the Reading Challenge is designed to get more tweens and teens reading by implementing a reading incentive program that provides prizes from WWE as a reward. WWE Superstars and Divas will also be in attendance to meet and cheer on the finalists.
The WrestleMania Reading Challenge ran from October 16 - October 22, 2011 and tested kids in grades 5-12, with different challenges depending upon grade level. Participating libraries and schools then judged the student’s projects and picked three First Prize Winners – one from each grade group, to advance to the regional level. From those winners, YALSA awarded a Grand Prize to three students from each regional area and now those 21 Grand Prize winners will come together to compete for the title of Tween World Champion (grades 5-6); Junior World Champion (grades 7-8); and Senior World Champion (grades 9-12) on Saturday, March 31.
