Miami-Dade Public Library System's T-Shirt Design Winner Announced

(MIAMI, SEPTEMBER 20, 2012) Fifteen year-old Kevin Zapata, a student at Design and Architecture Senior High School (DASH), is this year's Teen Read Week, T-Shirt Design Contest winner. His winning entry was chosen from hundreds of drawings and best represents the theme 'It Came from the Library!'

Zapata will receive a Barnes & Noble NOOK Color, an autographed football from the Miami Dolphins, and will have his design reproduced on T-Shirts which will be worn by participants during the official observance of Teen Read Week, October 15-24. First runner up, Robert M. Hodgson, will receive a $100 Best Buy Gift Card; and second runner up, Mara Rodriguez, will receive a $50 gift card.

Teen Read Week is a literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, which encourages teens to read just for the fun of it. Teen Read Week and its activities are sponsored by the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library and the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
