(MIAMI, SEPTEMBER 20, 2012) Fifteen year-old Kevin Zapata, a student at Design and Architecture Senior High School (DASH), is this year's Teen Read Week, T-Shirt Design Contest winner. His winning entry was chosen from hundreds of drawings and best represents the theme 'It Came from the Library!'
Zapata will receive a Barnes & Noble NOOK Color, an autographed football from the Miami Dolphins, and will have his design reproduced on T-Shirts which will be worn by participants during the official observance of Teen Read Week, October 15-24. First runner up, Robert M. Hodgson, will receive a $100 Best Buy Gift Card; and second runner up, Mara Rodriguez, will receive a $50 gift card.
Teen Read Week is a literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, which encourages teens to read just for the fun of it.
