Captivating Storytellers, Giant Puppet Theater, Dancers, Musicians and More at Miami-Dade Public Library System's 13th Annual International Festival Art Of Storytelling Family Festival Day!
CAPTIVATING STORYTELLERS, GIANT PUPPET THEATRE, DANCERS, MUSICIANS AND MORE AT MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM'S 13th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL ART OF STORYTELLING FAMILY FESTIVAL DAY!
(MIAMI, APRIL 15, 2013) – The Miami-Dade Public Library System presents its 13th annual International Art of Storytelling (AOS) Family Festival Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Main Library, 101 W. Flagler Street. The event is free and open to all ages.
The day kicks-off with a Storybook Character Parade where children zero to 12 years old are encouraged to dress as their favorite character and march in the parade – special giveaways will be presented to the first 100 children in costume. Throughout the day, guests will experience stories and tales from renowned storytellers like Derek Burrows, Dianne de las Casas, Sherry Norfolk, Shana Banana, Tamara Green and Will Thomas a.k.a. The Spanglish Wrangler. The Teen Zone, a special area for youths, 13-19, hosts the finals of the countywide video gaming competition and will crown a winner! There’s crafts, games, book giveaways open mic, karaoke and a performance by the rock band Live! Modern School of Music. For the little ones, the nine-foot tall puppets of the Bits N‘ Pieces Puppet Theatre will captivate them in Aesop’s Dinosaur Fables. Special guests include Bollywood Indian Dancers, magicians, stiltwalkers, face-painting, arts and crafts, and a traditional West Indian carnival parade.
