MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR
PROJECT L.E.A.D. (LITERACY FOR EVERY ADULT IN DADE)
(MIAMI, JULY 1, 2013) – The Miami-Dade Public Library System is seeking volunteer tutors for Project L.E.A.D. (Literacy for Every Adult in Dade) – a free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring program to assist adults with basic reading and writing skills. Tutors should be compassionate, flexible, possess good reading skills and be willing to commit to the program for a six month time period. No prior experience is needed.
A volunteer tutor workshop will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Main Library – 101 West Flagler Street – in downtown Miami. A background check is required; those interested in volunteering must bring a photo I.D. and social security card, or know their social security number. Parking is available at the Cultural Center Garage, 50 NW 2 Ave. for a $5 fee.
