“Alice in Wonderland” by Bits N’ Pieces Puppet Theatre

Founded in May 1976, by Executive Director Jerry Bickel, Bits N’ Pieces is dedicated to influencing the world of tomorrow by enchanting the children of today. Through the theatrical re‑telling of classic children's stories, Bits N’ Pieces brings to life the magical wonderment of children's fantasy and reinforces the core values long told and emphasized by great storytellers.

Carrie Sue Ayvar, Storyteller

Growing up surrounded by stories, Carrie Sue Ayvar learned early on about the power of the oral tradition and its capacity for healing, inspiration, education and entertainment. When she discovered that there were others who had not heard a classic story—read a few maybe, but not experienced the rich oral practice of storytelling—she knew she had found her calling.

Carrie Sue is now a nationally acclaimed storyteller dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of storytelling. Sharing her stories in both English and Spanish, she connects people, languages and cultures through her tales.

Waving Hands

Waving Hands is a 501(c)(3) non‑profit organization, whose goal is to reach out to those in South Florida that embrace the Deaf and Hard of Hearing culture/community and to include them in different events and activities; as part of the world with full access and friendship. Through their services and resources in South Florida they provide community involvement, education and advocacy to further support a healthier more independent quality of life. Waving hands spreads awareness to the community by hosting work‑shops for deaf/hard of hearing individual, discussing matters like health care, interpreting services, employment, and their legal rights.
