During Autism Acceptance Month in April, we invite you to explore programs and events designed for children and families with special needs, neurodiverse individuals and anyone who could benefit from a welcoming and inclusive environment, along with resources and recommended reads to promote greater awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The Miami-Dade Public Library System is recognized as an autism-friendly partner by the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD).

The Miami-Dade Public Library System's Braille & Talking Books Library loans audio and Braille books and magazines, along with a player, free by mail to persons with special needs and those who have difficulty reading or using printed books.
Sensory Kits are available at all library locations for in-library use. The kits contain items that can help create a calming and soothing effect, including fidget strings, squeezable toys and more. Noise reducing ear muffs are also available. Kits are available to all ages.
