October is Filipino American History Month. In 1991, the Filipino American National Historical Society passed a resolution to start celebrating Filipino American History beginning in October 1992. This month commemorates the earliest recorded landing of Filipinos on the coast of California on October 18, 1587. Nationally, Congress has recognized the month since November 2009.
The following images capture celebrations of the Filipino Employees Club and the Miami Woman's Club during the 1930s.
