About the Presenter
Maya Fisher is a Virginia-born and raised clarinetist, independent music curator, and arts administrator based in Miami, Florida. Maya's journey through clarinet performance at George Mason University and The University of Miami has shaped her unique perspective. As the Director of Operations at The Children’s Voice Chorus and with experience in youth music education organizations, Maya brings a wealth of knowledge to the discussion. Her recent contributions to the arts and humanities website Public Parking demonstrate her commitment to advancing music/cultural analysis and curatorial endeavors.
Maya's analytical projects offer commentary on seldom-explored discourses, focusing on the experiences of Black individuals within the Classical arts. Combining collage, music, and critical discussion, Maya captures the essence of exclusionary spaces and confronts the challenges faced by young Black artists.
