Author's Biography:

Shinetra Sanders is a children's book author, educator, and advocate for self-confidence and cultural pride. She discovered her love for reading and writing at a young age, when she won an essay contest at her school in the fifth grade. As a little Black girl navigating life’s challenges, writing became her strength. With a Master’s Degree in Social Work, she now shares her passion for reading and writing in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, empowering children from all backgrounds.

Ms. Sanders wrote and self-published her first children’s book, Dance, Alika, Dance for every child to remind them just how important they are - hoping to inspire them to embrace their own uniqueness, believe in themselves, and celebrate their inner beauty. She is dedicated to helping young voices be heard, reminding them that their thoughts and opinions matter.

She lives with her husband and their two children in Miami-Dade County. Through her writing and interactive read-alouds, she hopes to uplift children, parents, and educators, fostering confidence, resilience, and the joy of storytelling.
