About the artist: Aurora Molina was born in La Havana, Cuba, in 1984, emigrated to the US at age 16, and lives and works in Miami, Florida. Molina received her Associates in Visual Arts from Miami-Dade College (2004), a Bachelors in Fine Arts specializing in Mixed Media from Florida International University (2007), and Masters Degree in Contemporary Art at the Universidad Europea de Madrid (2009). Using the tools of embroidery, sculpture-making, drawing, photography, and video, Molina uses the potential of fiber art to communicate ideas about social and political issues.
