About the Workshop
The Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Special Collections and Archives division is excited to announce the Archiving 101 program, designed to teach the basics of archiving and preservation.
In this informative and engaging workshop, the Special Collections and Archives team will teach participants the importance of preserving their materials and storing and caring for them properly. Participants will be guided on how to archive and cover topics such as assessment, sorting, and proper housing of items and how to create a finding aid for the collection.
Participants are encouraged to bring materials they want to preserve. This workshop will primarily focus on printed materials, photographs, and small objects. Registered participants will receive a gently used archival-quality document box and supplies to get started creating their own collection.
