As the owner of Miami's first photo studio, Fred Hand's collection of historic photographs and meaningful personal possessions offers a rich repository of early Miami memories. These were donated to the Miami Pioneers and archived by the Miami-Dade Library's Florida Collection. Learn more about this collection at the library or online via Zoom. About Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade
The Miami Pioneers is Dade County's legacy historical organization, originally founded in 1936 by prominent settlers and business leaders who arrived in Miami in the pioneer era before the year 1900. The Natives of Dade was incorporated in 1986 by a group of local history enthusiasts born in Dade County. The groups merged on July 8, 2002.
