It’s a great way to gain experience, build your resume and support your local library branch. Students can also earn community service hours toward their graduation requirement. The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department provides at-risk youth in high school, ages 15 to 19 years old, with paid internship positions through the Fit2Lead Park Internship Program.
Interns will work under supervision after school and through the summer in different parks and departments throughout Miami-Dade County. During the internship program, the supervisor will provide mentorship, learning, and development opportunities. Interns must be available to work from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. weekdays.
Interns will also participate in weekly enrichment classes that promote social, emotional, and mental health and foster long-term academic and behavior improvement. Enrichment classes will include Social Emotional Learning, Art, Creative Writing and Financial Literacy. Interns can also participate in learn to swim instruction and/or earn a Water Safety certificate.
