Available Courses

  To become an adult learner, you must:

  • Have a valid Miami-Dade Public Library System library card.
  • Have access to the internet and a computer with video and audio.
  • Register online with a valid email address, phone number, first and last name (no initials) and library card number and PIN.
  • Live in Miami-Dade County.
  • Commit to attending all classes in the course.

Course Schedule and Registration

Registration with a valid phone number and full name is required for participation. Adult learners can register by clicking on the registration links below or by visiting the Library’s Calendar of Events. Registration will be for the full course.

Online classes are hosted through Zoom. All sessions will be recorded. Once registered, participants will receive all Zoom links via email.

Basic Spanish for Beginners (10 Weeks)

Basic course designed for non-Spanish speakers who have never spoken the language.


Intermediate Spanish (10 Weeks)

This course is designed for adults who can communicate in Spanish but need help to improve vocabulary, grammar and conversational skills.


Advanced Spanish Communication Skills (10 Weeks)

This course is designed for adults who have a high-intermediate understanding of Spanish as a second language but need improvement in communication skills, including listening, reading and writing.


Basic English for Beginners (10 Weeks)

Certified teachers will provide basic, elementary English language instruction for adults with no understanding of the language.


In-Person Course: Basic English for Beginners (10 Weeks)

Certified teachers will provide basic English language instruction in person at the library.


Intermediate English (10 Weeks)

This course is designed for those who can hold basic conversations in English but need help to improve vocabulary, grammar and fluency.


Advanced English Communication Skills (10 Weeks)

This course is designed for adults who have a high-intermediate understanding of English as a second language but need improvement in communication skills, including listening, reading and writing.


Basic French (10 Weeks)

This French language course is designed to enable adults to communicate appropriately in social and general business situations with an emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.


Basic Italian (10 Weeks)

This Italian language course is designed to enable adults to communicate appropriately in social and general business situations with an emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.


Adult Basic Education – Basic Reading and Math Skills (10 Weeks)

Certified teachers will provide instruction in reading and math skills at the elementary level.


GED Test Preparation (10 Weeks)

Certified teachers will provide instruction on GED content by reviewing skills and providing practice questions to help students prepare for the GED test.


SAT Test Preparation (10 Weeks)

Participants will learn helpful tips and strategies that every test-taker should know to prepare for the SAT college admissions exam.


U.S. Citizenship (10 Weeks)

This course will prepare qualified individuals for the U.S. citizenship test. Participants will learn citizenship eligibility requirements, U.S. history and government, interview tips and more. Instruction will be provided in English only.


Financial Literacy (2 Sessions)

Unlock your financial potential! Empower your financial journey through our online financial literacy series. Learn practical tips and gain real-world knowledge on a variety of financial topics. Please register for each session separately.
