Meeting RoomJune Thomson Morris researched her grandparents' local history, which inspired Greetings from Paradise, a play written for the City of Coral Gables Centennial Celebration. Join us in person or online and hear her story, as traces their 1924 arrival in Miami, the 1925 Land Boom, the Bust, and the 1926 Hurricane. Registration required. The Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade are pleased to welcome June Thomson Morris whose story weaves in the era’s early developers, Carl Fisher and George Merrick. June will speak on this time period and what she discovered in researching the early days of Miami, Miami Beach, and Coral Gables.
About Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade County:
The Miami Pioneers is Dade County's legacy historical organization, originally founded in 1936 by prominent settlers and business leaders who arrived in Miami in the pioneer era before the year 1900. The Natives of Dade was incorporated in 1986 by a group of local history enthusiasts born in Dade County. The groups merged on July 8, 2002.
