Kitchen Science - Gingerbread House Engineering

The art and science of gingerbread house construction has driven competitions around the world. With the guidance of FIU CASE, learn how to create the best gingerbread structure using kitchen chemistry, the engineering design process, and holiday cheer! A list of required and suggested ingredients will be provided to participants who wish to create their own project to take home. Social distancing is recommended. Space is limited. Registration is required. Ages 8 - 12 yrs.
Materials Needed:
- Pre-made gingerbread – OR substitute items like graham crackers
- Pre-made icing
- A suitable cookie sheet and cover to transport
Optional Materials:
- Hard candies
- Gum drops
- Chocolate
- Other delectable treats of your choosing to serve as decorative or structural elements
