Biscayne Bay is in danger and needs your help! Did you know your actions inland have a huge impact? Sewage waste, street trash, and fertilizer runoffs constantly threatens the health of the Bay. Irela Bagué is Miami-Dade County’s first Chief Bay Officer (CBO). The CBO focuses on water quality, policy, and appropriations that will spur the environmental recovery of Biscayne Bay. Ms. Bagué is an advisor to the County Mayor and County Commission and is a liaison between County departments, County boards, external agencies, stakeholder groups, and local, state, and federal governments. Previously, Ms. Bagué chaired MiamiDade County’s Biscayne Bay Task Force, which created a comprehensive report about Biscayne Bay’s health and set a path forward for its longterm recovery and restoration.
