Author Biography:
Born in New York City, as a child, Dr. Arlene Sacks enjoyed the carousel and greenery of Central Park, playgrounds, street fairs, and the city’s free performances. As an adult, she developed a love for theater, museums, and the opportunity for sampling the city’s myriad of ethnic foods. Currently, Miami is her home. She enjoys the diversity and excitement of the city. Dr. Sacks is involved in the writing community and is grateful for the opportunity to be part of a city that is continuously developing and making its mark worldwide.
Dr. Sacks studied education and psychology during her undergraduate and master's degree programs. In her doctoral studies she focused on education and behavioral psychology, as a student of B.F. Skinner's daughter. She has served as Director of Graduate Programs at St. Thomas University and Barry University both in Miami, FL. Additionally, she has been the Dean of Doctoral Programs and served as Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Union Institute and University, based in Cincinnati, OH.
She has greatly enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother and has been called a great storyteller. This is evidenced in her most recent books, Moving Forward: The Widow’s Journey and The Alchemy of Love and Marriage. Moving Forward: The Widow’s Journey was named a finalist in the Foreword INDIES, the National Indie Book Excellence Awards, and was shortlisted in the 2022 Selfies Awards.
