Join us for an interactive Art Talk presentation with artist Onajide Shabaka, in conjunction with the FIU Frost Museum's exhibition, Place and Purpose: Art Transformation in Coconut Grove. Space is limited for this online event. Registration is required. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants within 24 hours of the event start time. Ages 18 yrs.+
Onajide Shabaka has lived in California and Florida. His art is informed by historical/biographical themes related to geography as well as the African diaspora and Native American cultures. The Miami-based artist is interested in ethnobotany, geology and archeology and the exploration of how they intersect with culture, history and society.
Additionally, Shabaka’s writing and curatorial practice focuses largely on contemporary art and culture, and subject specific research.
