Gone, but not forgotten, Jimbos was hidden in plain sight at the end of the road on Virginia Key. It was ostensibly a simple place for fishermen to buy live shrimp bait, but it was so much more. Program held in person and on Zoom. Registration is required for a Zoom link to be emailed within 24 hours of the program. For more information, contact 305-668-4571 or booke@mdpls.org. Ages 18 yrs.+
To the regular customers, it was a place to buy smoked fish and cold beer, play bocce ball and relax aside a beautiful natural lagoon. To the movie, television and photography industries, it was an authentic outdoor set that mimicked an island fishing village. To the gregarious proprietor James “Jimbo” Luznar, it was a family business that attracted a cast of interesting characters, and a place to host friends and neighbors apart from the hustle-bustle of Greater Miami.
