YOUmakeThis four-part sewing course is designed for beginners who have basic experience using a sewing machine, sewing by hand and some of their own sewing supplies. Participants will learn essential skills like: how to cut, mark, measure, stitch and iron fabric pieces with accuracy. By the end of the course, they?ll be ready to have the option to create one simple holiday craft item or fashion accessory with confidence. Each class in this series builds upon information learned in the previous class. Interested participants must register for all four (4) workshops in the series.
Participants must successfully complete Level Zero Sewing Basics and Sewing Fundamentals workshops prior to registering for this series.
For this series of workshop, the presenter will provide the patterns for you to select your preferred design.
In this class, students will learn how to:
- Mark and measure fabric with confidence using rulers, chalk, and measuring guides
- Cut fabric accurately using patterns and proper tools to ensure clean lines and precise shapes
- Prepare fabric or pattern pieces by pinning and/or hand basting for a more successful construction
- Stitch fabric pieces together using basic machine sewing techniques, including straight seams, curves and seam finishes
- Incorporate ironing as a tool needed to perfect seams for a better overall finished product
- Understand project planning basics, organized sewing methods, proper use of equipment and assembling parts step-by-step

This four-part sewing course is perfect for beginners who have some experience using a sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, tools and equipment. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants will develop essential techniques that are the foundation of successful sewing projects. Such as, a home fashion (table napkin and matching placemat set, an envelope pillow cover, holiday ornament or fashion accessory (a bandana or tote bag). This class will help you build the confidence and skills needed to start creating your own items. Fabrics, patterns/templates and supplies will be provided for Participants to use, practice and improve their skills. If Participants have their own sewing supplies they are encouraged to bring them along. Otherwise, sewing machines, supplies, tools and equipment are provided on-site for the series and Participants will be instructed to use these items with care and confidence.
