About the Panel Participants
Jonathan Chait Auerbach (Keynote Speaker)
Since June 2019, Mr. Jonathan Chait Auerbach, has served as Consul General of Mexico in Miami, Florida.
Mr. Chait began his career by joining the Mexican Foreign Service in 1998. He’s been assigned to various posts during his career, beginning with his first assignment with the Chief of Staff Office of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. His overseas assignments include the Head of the Promotion and Investment Department within the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso.
In January 2004, Mr. Chait was appointed Director of Cultural Affairs at the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco, and in March of 2009 he was appointed Deputy Consul General of Mexico in San Francisco, California.
From the summer of 2011 to September 2013, he was appointed as Consul in Charge of the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas, Texas. In September 2013 he was assigned as Deputy General Director for North America at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico City. During the last year, he’s been the Head of for Congressional Affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in Washington, D.C.
Caridad Moro-Gronlier (Panelist)
Caridad is a career educator and the author of Tortillera, published by Texas Review Press (2021) and winner of the TRP Southern Poetry Breakthrough Prize, and the chapbook Visionware, published by Finishing Line Press. She is a Contributing Editor for Grabbed: Poets and Writers Respond to Sexual Assault (Beacon Press, 2020) and Associate Editor for SWWIM Every Day, an online daily poetry journal for women.
In addition, Moro-Gronlier is the recipient of an Elizabeth George Foundation Grant and a Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in poetry.
Recent projects include "A Heroic Sonnet Crown for Mayor Daniella Levine Cava,” the O, Miami Off-Shore Fellowship, and publication in Home in Florida: Latinx Writers and the Literature of Uprootedness (UF Press, 2021), Limp Wrist, and America’s Best Poetry blog.
Jennifer Solomon (Panelist)
Jennifer Solomon, R.N. is the proud parent of a 11-year-old gender nonconforming child living in Miami, Florida. She is an appointed member of the Human Rights Campaign’s Parents for Transgender Equality Council and the founder/president of PFLAG’s South Miami Chapter. She also helps lead the Miami Coalition for Queer Youth, where she engages with the Miami-Dade County Public School superintendent to ensure all students have access to a safe, equitable and enriching educational experience that allows them to thrive.
Jennifer has been featured in numerous articles in the Washington Post, Miami New Times, Good Housekeeping, Vanity Fair and other news media outlets such as MSNBC, CBS, and NBC, where she elevates her voice to help educate others. Working tirelessly as a fierce advocate empowering families to embrace and support their loved ones, she is committed to creating a society where all children can live as their authentic selves.
Orlando Gonzales (Moderator)
As the Executive Director of Safeguarding American Values for Everyone (SAVE/SAVE Dade), Orlando Gonzales, MPA, works to advance SAVE’s mission to promote, protect and defend equality for people in South Florida who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. Throughout his career, Gonzales has been involved with businesses and non-profit organizations with an impact on both the local and national levels. Public service has always been an integral part of his life, focusing on organizations that promote human rights and the educational advancement of people of color and the LGBT community.
